DURING THE HEARTWRENCHING WEEKS AND MONTHS that follow an abduction, families are often left with no resources to make mortgage or rental payments. Marc Klaas, President of the KlaasKids Foundation, and Tracy McLaughlin, an owner of Pacific Union International, have joined forces to spearhead the first ever effort to assist families of missing children with housing needs.
IN 1994, THE KLAASKIDS FOUNDATION, a 501 (c)(3) public benefit corporation, was established to give meaning to the tragic death of 12-year-old Polly Hannah Klaas. The Foundation pursues its mission of ‘stopping crimes against children’ everywhere from the President’s Cabinet Table to the family kitchen table. This broad-based approach allows the KlaasKids Foundation to pursue an aggressive child safety agenda on many fronts. We pursue legislative advocacy that promotes front and back end solutions that will protect today’s children from predators and ensure that today’s children do not become tomorrow’s predators. KlaasKids encourages partnerships between neighborhoods, law enforcement, organizations and the private sector that create safe, crime free communities.
OUR SIGNATURE CHILD ID PROGRAM, the Print-A-Thon has worked with community minded businesses in more than 40 states to fingerprint and photograph more than 1,000,000 children at no cost to families. Since 1996, the KlaasKids website has been one of the most popular child safety destinations on the Internet and KlaasKids Español is the Internet’s first Spanish language website. KlaasKids consistently supports positions that have demonstrated proven value. We are consistent in words and actions.
